A Whole, New World

Today at Christ Church Las Vegas we hear that our view of Christ's resurrection is too small. Our atonement theology tends to center on the death of the cross. Our view of resurrection tends to be merely historical or merely spiritual or simply personal. Of course, Christ's resurrection does occur in time. It is a historical fact. It has spiritual effects and it does give life to us personally. However, our theology of the resurrection is nevertheless truncated. Christ died for the whole world, see John 3:16. Which means that he is raised to life for the whole world, and gives life to the whole world. We share in Christ's resurrection, we get what he gets we get what he wants. He wants it all; the entire cosmos. That is exactly what he has won, and so that is exactly what we get in him.
