Today at Christ Church Las Vegas we again hear from Psalm 2 and Matthew 2. Herod's opposition to the birth of Christ serves as a prototype of all unregenerate, reprobate, God-hating, Christ-rejecting rulers. The first Herod couldn't kill Jesus and no subsequent Herod is going to thwart his kingdom in anyway. Earthly kings have fought against Christmas from the very beginning because they know that the birth of this king will eventually bring all of their petty kingdoms to an end.
